Modulation

Notes from Friday the 13th

- Finding closely related keys

--When using the Circle of 5ths, stay w/in one accidental. (picture to be added later)

 

-You are usually taken to a new key with a Cadence.

 

Common Chord Modulation-

Label this progression twice because the chord is common in both keys.

Example:

Eflat: I V I IV6

    Aflat:    I6  ii6 ect.

( 14.2 homework # 3)

 

Chromatic Modulation-

In one voice ( G nat goes to G sharp)

---same note name, but changes accidental.

also

(14.2 #1 in homework)

 

Phrase Modulation-

Beginning a new phrase in a new key.

Ex:

C: I V |  F: ii

Nice start! Looks like just about everything Dr. Millan went over in class is there. I'll have to check my notes for more info...*blush* Sorry this wasn't more constructive...
